Daphne is in the middle of her brother\u2019s wedding. As a bridesmaid, she has an obligation to Denise. But when Liam surprises them all with a video revealing Denise\u2019s ultimate secrets, Daphne has no choice but to choose her brother\u2014even if what he did was humiliating for Denise.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As my brother\u2019s wedding approached, excitement buzzed through the air, filling everyone with anticipation. My brother, the groom, was a notorious prankster, and his hints at a major surprise had us all on edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I thought he was just creating the drama for effect\u2014Liam was that person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, when it came to wedding planning, I think Denise spent more time talking about their wedding to me than Liam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liam, on the other hand, seemed like he was doing the bare minimum with the wedding\u2014but the reality is that he was busy putting together a beautiful video for the wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He showed me a folder on his laptop where he was saving all his and Denise\u2019s videos and photos, ready to create the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo you think Liam has cold feet?\u201d Denise asked me when we went wedding shopping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo,\u201d I replied honestly. \u201cHe\u2019s planning something for you, that\u2019s taking all his time at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d she asked enthusiastically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m sworn to secrecy,\u201d I said. \u201cNow, go and try on dresses!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the morning of the wedding, I got to the hotel suite early. I wanted to see Liam before getting ready with Denise and the other bridesmaids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou have no idea what\u2019s coming,\u201d he teased, sipping on a glass of champagne as he got ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh boy,\u201d I said. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to see what you\u2019ve got planned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was perfect\u2014and everything had gone exactly to plan as Denise wanted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the flowers to the music to the scented candles that perfumed the venue. It was all perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the time came for the vows, my brother told the priest to wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He pulled a remote from his pocket with a flourish, while two of his groomsmen wheeled a TV screen to the middle of the altar, just in front of where Liam and Denise were standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWatch this,\u201d he said, stepping back to join his groomsmen. And then he pressed play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screen came alive with their love story\u2014their first kiss, snippets from trips together, cozy nights in, dinners cooked together, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The montage tugged at heartstrings, and all the guests were enthralled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the real shock was still to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the video ended, the priest went back to his position, ready to continue the ceremony from where he left off. He called for Denise and Liam to resume their positions, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He solemnly asked if anyone objected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before anyone knew what was happening, Liam dropped Denise\u2019s hand and stepped away, back down the aisle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI do,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d Denise hissed. \u201cLiam, this isn\u2019t the time for one of your pranks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t a prank,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He held up the remote control again and pressed another button\u2014the air was thick with tension as music began to fill the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new video was a stark contrast\u2014it showed his bride in their shared home, but Denise wasn\u2019t alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, she was wearing lingerie and depicted in a compromising situation with another man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The room fell deathly quiet, every eye glued to the screen, then slowly turning to gauge her reaction at my brother\u2019s reveal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denise turned around slowly to face her guests, her face ghostly pale, her eyes wide with horror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis can\u2019t be happening,\u201d she murmured, more to herself than anyone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, the same man from the video swore loudly\u2014he was seated at the back of the venue, dressed in a suit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was ground to a halt, and the festive atmosphere evaporated into a thick, awkward tension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denise staggered slightly, looking around as if seeking an escape or an ally. She kicked off her shoes and picked them up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn our own home, though? Seriously, Denise?\u201d my brother retorted sharply, his hurt palpable to all watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crowd murmured, some guests shaking their heads, others unable to look away from the unfolding drama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The priest stepped back. I wondered if he was thinking about taking Liam and Denise in for couples\u2019 counseling\u2014something that they had refused when they booked the priest in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liam walked out first, abandoning his wedding and all the guests he and Denise had chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denise ran out behind him, calling out to Liam, but he refused to acknowledge her presence. Her mother ran out behind her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, I walked around the hotel to find my brother. I found him sitting at the bar, drinking his feelings away while eating a bowl of olives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDid you know?\u201d he asked me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, of course not,\u201d I said quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It turned out that when Liam was going through the videos and photos on his laptop, he ended up looking through Denise\u2019s, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI just wanted to see if there was anything else that I could add to the video,\u201d he said sadly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I ordered myself a drink and got comfortable next to my brother\u2014from the looks of it, we were going to be there for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI went through the first folder,\u201d he admitted. \u201cAnd it was incredible because she had all these photos that I hadn\u2019t seen before. But in the next folder, there was the video of Denise with that man. It wasn\u2019t even a locked folder, Daphne,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were both silent for a while, and Liam gulped away his drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo you think I was wrong to expose her?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo,\u201d I said honestly. \u201cBut maybe you should have spoken to her privately. There\u2019s no knowing how this could wreck her. Or what she\u2019ll do next.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I sat back in my seat and helped myself to the bowl of pretzels that the bartender had left out for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have no intention of checking on her,\u201d Liam said. \u201cI don\u2019t care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn\u2019t have any intention of getting Liam to forgive Denise. There was no point in trying to get him to forgive her after what she had done\u2014Liam had always been sure of one thing. Cheating was the absolute deal breaker in a relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCome,\u201d he said. \u201cLet\u2019s go eat some wedding cake. That can\u2019t go to waste, too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I followed my brother out to the dining room that had been set up for the wedding reception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I knew that as much as I wanted to check on Denise\u2014Liam needed me in his corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
